Valley of volcanoes and Cotahuasi

During this trek you will visit two unmissable natural attractions in the Arequipa region: the Valley of Volcanoes and the Cotahuasi Canyon. The Valley of Volcanoes is a National Geopark ranging from 1900 to over 4000 m above sea level, with 84 volcanoes, mountains with snowy peaks and an oasis with one of the largest springs in the world. These are just some of the various beauties that the area offers. The Cotahuasi Canyon, the second deepest canyon in the world (3562 meters deep) is called the Canyon of Wonders. Here you will find stone forests, a forest of giant cactus, waterfalls, thermal springs and the Puyas de Raimondi forest.

Arequipa - Cotahuasi

Day 1

The first day, departure from Arequipa to Cotahuasi. Along the way we make several stops to appreciate the breathtaking landscapes including the yaretas forests, a queñua forest, rock formations and the Solimana volcano. Arrival at destination and overnight in Cotahuasi.

Calca - Thermal baths

Day 2

After breakfast, departure for Puica to visit the ruins of Maucallacta. It will be possible to appreciate the immensity of the Canyon from different natural panoramic points during the journey that leads to Calca and the Luicho thermal baths. Return and overnight in Cotahuasi.

Sipia waterfall

Day 3

The day begins with a visit to the Sipia waterfall, with its seven jumps of about 150 m each. Then continue to Pampamarca before returning to Cotahuasi for overnight.

Valley of the Volcanoes

Day 4

Day dedicated to the Valley of Volcanoes. Along the way you will admire the imposing Coropuna volcano, the highest volcano in Peru, and then stop in some natural panoramic points from which you can appreciate the beauty of the Valley of Volcanoes and the Chachas lagoon. In the city of Ayo you will see the river of the same name that runs through this desert region. Continue to the Colca Canyon where you will spend the night in Cabanaconde.

Day 5

During this last day it is possible to visit the Cruz del Condor before returning to Arequipa.
